Course Cancelled

Unfortunately the Stress Control course planned for January at Prestonpans Library has had to be cancelled.  Not enough people had booked a place on the course to make it worthwhile.

Rescheduled Soon

The course will run again soon at a venue and time to be confirmed.  If you are interested in attending this course, please call 0131 536 8101 to find out more and note your interest.  This will help us plan where and when the next course will run.

New Course – Open Access

Stress Control

Stress Control

After the success of the last Stress Control course run at the Brunton Hall in Musselburgh, my Psychologist colleagues are getting ready to run their second course.

What’s The Deal?

As the advert says, the Stress Control course will be held over 6 Friday mornings at Prestonpans Library.  As it’s just down from the school, it should be possible to drop off kids and then pick them up again after the course.

The course is designed to help anyone that’s struggling with day to day stress.  Lets face it, stress gets the better of us all at times, this course will help you deal with it a little better.

We want to make it as easy as possible for you to come along, so if you’re interested, all you have to do is pick up the phone and book a place.  No need to visit your doctor first, you don’t need to be referred.

Questions?

If you have any questions or want to book your place, just phone 0131 536 8101.

**Update**

Unfortunately this course has had to be cancelled due to low interest.  It will run again soon, so please get in touch on the number above to find out more and register your interest.

We are now heading towards the Christmas break and historically this has been a surprisingly quiet time for the group work service.  In the past we have continued to run a group or two through the holidays but this has never been a successful tactic.

This year we are going to take a couple of weeks break whilst the schools are off.  This means that there will be no groups the weeks of the 22nd and 29th December 2008.  Our programme will resume on Monday 5th January 2009.  There will be new groups starting shortly after the New Year so we will publish a new Timetable as soon as possible.

After reporting an imminent change of management in the newly formed CMHT.  We can now report that this will not happen…..just yet!

David Haldane’s secondment as Clinical Services Development Manger (CSDM) to the new Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) will come to and end in the first half of the new year.  Hopefully this will allow the new team to settle in before we experience even more change.

The new team launch seems to have been successful and the new teams have fitted into their role.  Obviously it’s early days and some parts of the service have experienced more change than others.  However, other than a few minor procedural hic-ups, there is nothing exciting to report!

We received unexpected news last week of a planned change to the management structure of Mental Health Services in Lothian.

It was announced that, just after the new Community Mental Health Team launches on Wednesday 26th November, there will be a change to local management.  Currently both East and Mid Lothian have a Clinical Services Development Manager (CSDM).  As part of the restructuring, these two posts will be combined into one.  This means that our current CSDM, David Haldane, will be replaced by Robert Clement, the existing CSDM for Mid Lothian.

This change will happen on Sunday 7th December, just over a week after the new team launches.
